
Saul Hertz Best Abstract Award Poster
The Saul Hertz Best Abstract Award honours the legacy of Dr. Saul Hertz (1905–1950), the physician who pioneered the use of radioactive iodine for the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease, introducing the world's first targeted radionuclide therapy. His groundbreaking work established the scientific foundation for modern theranostics—the integration of molecular imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy that is transforming precision oncology today.
Established as the inaugural Young Investigator Award at ISRT 2026, this award recognizes outstanding early-career researchers whose innovation, scientific excellence, and commitment to advancing nuclear medicine and radiopharmaceutical therapy reflect Dr. Hertz's enduring vision of improving patient care through precision medicine. It aims to inspire the next generation of African scientists and clinicians to lead the future of theragnostics and cancer care.
We encourage all eligible young scientists, residents, fellows, and early-career professionals (under 40 years of age) to submit their abstracts for consideration for the inaugural Saul Hertz Best Abstract Award. Abstracts (maximum 350 words) should be submitted to 📧 admin@isrt2026.org by 13 August 2026.
